During a routine interview with what she believed to be the C.I.A, Charlie was taken to a secure location, at which she was offered a job at S.H.I.E.L.D. Despite being initially deceived about the interview, she was eager to accept, having been searching for something out of the ordinary after many years of working on more typical projects. Interestingly enough, she never found out what exactly about her portfolio put her on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radar to begin with. .Charlie regularly works with engineers, administrative staff, and of course her own internal architectural team, which was formed with approval (and numerous background checks and examinations) of her superiors and other higher ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. team members who handled that sort of thing. Architecture for S.H.I.E.L.D. dips into engineering, with the amount of technological advances that are constantly being made, and so Charlie’s portfolio has widened to overlap some level of technological engineering, and it gave her that extra inspiration she had been searching for.
Because S.H.I.E.L.D. prides itself on its security and confidentiality, she sometimes has limited access to the information about the projects she works on. In the earlier days of her profession (beginning of the MCU), this wasn’t as much of a concern to her, but as time went on, she realized that not everything she was presented with was always the truth. This began to eat at her some and she pushed for the ability to balance out the unknown aspects of what she may be designing with projects that brought her some peace of mind and let her do some definitive good for the world. Her current resume of work includes anything from S.H.I.E.L.D. bases, equipment storage facilities, R&D facilities, research (and potentially) replication of confiscated technologies that benefit the organization, field work, surveying, operations bases, inspections of acquired facilities, renovations of existing buildings, etc. Architecture is a feast or famine profession, and it’s either a plethora of projects ongoing simultaneously, or maybe one or two at best. When times are slower, Charlie has received permission after significant lobbying, to use her architectural team and skills to benefit the community, by working on small scale historic renovations projects, national parks projects, and non-profit projects.
